So how much did you roughly spent?

The most common question Taiwanese people ask once they know I am an exchange student, is "So how much did you roughly spent?"

Ideally, I would say I have scholarship so I paid for nothing, yet in fact I paid for everything. Taiwanese people often imaging people studying abroad are all happy and sucessful, however that contradicts with my actual feeling here. oftentimes, I feel like a total alien, unable to fit in, always akward when people assume I understand Czech. Ale, ne, nerozumím český.

I borrowed the concept of "deminstrelization" from Erving Goffman's book "Stigma: Notes on Management of Spoiled Identity", which is that in order for people with stigma to blend in, they often have to pretend to be normal, but they often do it too much, become "too normal" and result in an opposite effect.

After taking the photo, I select 36 of them and using photoshop for editing the unnatral smile and also increase in exposure of myself in the photo, to draw audience's attention towards my actual emotion hidden behind the photo.
